NOW THIS PIECE IS SOMETHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT, or with, as it were. Based on a conversation in which the designers wondered if they could create a furniture piece from a regular office object, the Pencil Bench by Boex 3D Creative Solutions takes the oxymoron out of corporate creativity. Composed of 1600 individually sprung pencils and a wooden base, the Pencil Bench may not get points for comfort but it more than makes up for it with ingenuity.

Yin Yang Outdoor Dual Lounger

NO LONGER JUST AN ANCIENT CHINESE PHILOSOPHY, the Yin Yang outdoor lounger, manufactured by DEDON, combines two opposite forms into one beautifully simple article of furntiure. Alternatingly convex and concave, in both bronze- and platinum-colored fibers, it was created to appear as if formed by the natural elements, much like water-worn stones or wind-shaped sand dunes on the beach side.  Made of 4,000 meters (more than 13,123 feet, or over 36 football fields) of fiber, the Yin Yang lounger can be separated into two distinct and equally attractive pieces.

AGK Mercury Lounge Chair

WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED THAT ANDRE AGASSI and Steffi Graf's first creation would have been a wire-frame lounge chair that seems to float on air. Teamed with renowned modern furniture designer Mike Kreiss, Agassi and Graf's creation is part of a 16-piece custom collection created for their Las Vegas home. A combination of Graf's preference for "streamlined design" and Agassi's inclination towards subtle elegance, the AGK Mercury Lounge Chair is made of weather resistant powder-coated steel wire hand-wrapped in dark brown synthetic rattan.  (I personally would have bet that the first creation of these two tennis icons would have had a better backhand, but this will have to do for now.)
